SCRFA has published a Methods Manual that covers all aspects of studying spawning aggregations, from monitoring fish numbers over time using both fishery-dependent and fishery-independent approaches, investigating reproductive output, interviewing fishers, recognizing, mapping and documenting aggregations, to conducting biological studies and addressing conservation issues.
Using this manual, research and monitoring initiatives and protocols can be developed and adapted to suit local needs and circumstances.
The manual will be updated periodically (current Version 1.1) and we welcome comments on this version for consideration in later updates.
