About SCRFA
Mission Statement
Through its work, the Society for the Conservation of Reef Fish Aggregations (SCRFA) strives to promote responsible stewardship of reef fish spawning aggregations, through better conservation and management. Our aim is to serve a diverse membership, with representatives from regulatory bodies, NGO's, scientists, fishery managers, educators and the private sector. Together, this membership directly supports, promotes, influences and facilitates relevant initiatives as an independent body. Activities ongoing or promoted by SCRFA range from documentation of aggregation status and history, synopses and development of methods suitable for documenting, assessing and monitoring aggregations and aggregating species, conservation and management policy, biological information, and education and awareness-raising.
Meetings of SCRFA have been held at international, regional, and local fora. We are now a member of International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI).
Our work has been funded by the Packard Foundation with support from the Division of Ecology & Biodiversity, University of Hong Kong.
