In order to reduce the chances of spawning
aggregations in the global database from being targeted, or more
heavily targeted, for exploitation as a result of information
here provided, their specific locations in terms of latitude and
longitude, or any written descriptions, will not be released to
the public.
Instead, locations are given in terms of Country, and Grid
Area which are 2° x 2° latitudinal and longitudinal
squares. These squares, which make up a grid covering the planet,
are fixed at conventional 2° x 2° divisions, e.g. 10 - 12° N,
35 - 37° W.
The 2° x 2° latitudinal and longitudinal squares are expressed as negative and positive numbers in the query pull downs. To clarify the relationship of negative and positive latitude and longitude values, the following rules need to be remembered by the user:
Eastern longitude is entered as a positive number.
Western
longitude is entered as a negative number.
Northern
latitude is entered as a positive number.
Southern
latitude is entered as a negative number.
